Penning down my ideas

Thinking of writing a book, what about you might say, about how we wreck havoc in our world and how I think we can patch the world up.

Of National Anthems & National Songs

Some of you might have read an article in the recent past of some debate in Pakistan about the due which was not given to a Hindu Urdu poet Jagannath Azad commissioned by Jinnah to write the the national anthem of Pakistan. Eighteen months later it was changed to have both music and lyrics by Muslims.

We too have our own controversies about the national anthem, written in highly sanskritised Bengali and it being composed some say to honour King George the V. Our National Song Vande Mataram, is written in sanskrit.

Haryana Police Academy: Policeman Hyde & Policeofficer Jekyll

Why would I write about 'Haryana Police Academy'?

Because they are Jats? Or Because one of my reporter friends once wondered aloud (in front of Haryana police!) if all the Jats join Delhi police who joins the Haryana Police? Or Because of their reputation for no brain and only brawn? Or maybe just maybe they have done something which no other police force in India has done?

The last statement holds promise, but they could have set up any number of infamous records ( our civil society prejudice reflects). No its not a record, its something even Delhi Police with its
'With you, for you, always' slogan and TV show on DD in the late nineties could not do, it is publishing books. Books about FIRs (First Information Reports), how to file them what to do if the police is unwilling to file them, 3rd Degree, its illegal how to take action if you have been subject to it, Women's rights, what are they, how to get justice for themselves, women traficking, juvenile justice. Books on RTI(Right To Information Act) Babus beware !, books on NREGA, books on the consumer act.

Sounds a bit out of character wouldn't you think. Here is the police of 'India' and none other than The Haryana Police publishing books on the very topics we thought one could never get any information from police ( or at least, any thing of value which can stand up fpr scrutiny).

Had enough pleasant surprises, or should I say 3rd Degree shocks here is another its the police officers themselves who author these books and some are even in the syllabus of the police academy. Don't believe me then visit the Delhi Book Fair, the first time a police force in India is is participating in a book fair to meet people and tell them about their rights and make them aware. They have participated in bookfairs in Goa, Patna, Nainital, Dharmshala, Chandigarh, Noida, Ludhiana and Gurgaon.

All visitors to their stall can expect to fill out one of these questionnaires

1. Gender rights and equality
2. 3rd Degree
3. Legal rights and procedures
4. Castesim and communalism.

There is even more I spent a good 45 minutes listening to what these men and women in khaki had achieved and there is so much more, but more of this later when I visit their website and their model police station.

Its truly a a a... I don't quite know how to put it in phrases (or for that matter prose, which it so rightly deserves) but I will try and describe it--

Its Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the answer lies within the question, the antidote is made from the poison. The answer to police corruption, brutality, heavy handedness, and the many other evils that plague the Indian Police services are not with spotless white khadi cloaked politicians its with the underpaid, overworked and khaki wearing police.

Laundry Printing Press Amalgamation

Here is a wacky idea, what if we could wash our clothes in a printing press?

This idea might not make much sense to a lot of people, in fact it will only make sense to only a select few those who are the intersection of the following two pies - one those understand how offset printing presses work and two those who understand how detergents work while washing clothes.

I am not sure that I am in that intersection, but its an idea i have lets see what it is-

First let me explain what i believe happens in an offset printing press made of different kinds of rollers. n one roller is the paper and the other roller has the image carrier. These two must roll over each other to transfer the image from the image carrier to the paper (substrate).

Now how does this image transfer take place?
The image carrier has two areas , one carries the image and the other is blank. The area that carries the image is oleophilic (it attracts oils), the area that is blank is hydrophillic(it attracts water). The roller with the image carrier goes into a bath of ink which is oil based so it sticks to the area on the image carrier which is oleophilic. Now to get rid of any excess ink it goes through (I believe I am not sure) either a water bath and/or gets scraped by a blade. Now that the optimal amount of ink is on the carrier it is rolled over the substrate(Paper) to transfer the image (print).

Enough of that i am pretty sure I got some things wrong over there, but the basics are I believe correct. I will do some research and come back and correct it later.

Now about washing dirty linen. Washing is done with the help of water, detergent and of course our dirty laundry. The magic component are the detergent molecules. These molecules consist of two parts one is oleophilic and the other is hydrophilic. Now the dirt in the dirty laundry is supposed to be oil based so it sticks to the oleophilic part of the detergent molecule and the other half of the detergent molecule is hydrophilic so it sticks to water.

Now we have a tug of war between the dirt stuck to our dirty laundry the oleophilc half of the detergent molecule stuck to the dirt and the hydrophilic half of the detergent molecule stuck to the water. Now it is up to the washing machine to pull of this great tug of war of the dirty laundry and make it clean laundry.

Thats the similarity between printing and washing. Next we will try and find out how we can marry the two together in a meaningful relationship.

PET bottles Recycled into Textile Yarn

I know this site is supposed to be about my ideas but if someone has a better idea than me than why not talk about them. I have a friend lets call her 'Kiss' she works in a company who strip down PET bottles , you know like colas and other beverages and make them into yarn to be used by the textile industry.

I might get a chance to visit this plant next month and know more about this. The reason i like this so much is that they are not doing this because they care about the environment, who knows maybe they do, they are doing this because it makes economic sense.

This what everyone who wants to save the environment must understand that it is very difficult to make people care about the environment but much more simpler for them to care about making profits. More on this theory, lets call it "Economics of saving the earth" a little later.

Nadir to Zenith

This is beginning, hence the Nadir, with nothing. I hope to reach (like most people) the Zenith via (unlike most people) the spire of my Ideas.

What Ideas do I have?

Ideas about politics, environment, recycling, India, the world, religion,...................................................

Like ideas my ideas are endless.

Hopefully some of you will be influenced by my ideas and out them into practice, hopefully some day I will have enough guts to practice what I preach.
